You’re almost there.  You have studied hard, set your goals, and you know what you want out of life.

The programs in this section will help you achieve your goals while providing you with opportunities to meet leaders in the STEM fields, network with your peers and take another critical step on your road to success.

The SMART Scholarship for Service Program (SMART) - The Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program is an opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to receive a full scholarship and be gainfully employed upon degree completion.

Science and Engineering Apprentice Program, College Qualified Leaders (SEAP - CQL) - This program, sponsored by George Washington University and the Department of Defense, offers interested undergraduates and graduates the opportunity for a research internship in a DoD lab. Internships are available year round or for the summer only. There is no deadline for applying and applications are accepted all year.

Research Internship in Science and Engineering (RISE) – This program will excite and prepare entering freshmen women, who then move on to an extended research internship involving close contact with successful women scientists and engineers.  LSCHMIDT@ENG.UMD.EDU

Applied Predictive Technologies (APT) -  In this program, the marketing coop/intern will play a substantial role across APT’s
marketing and sales efforts. You will learn how APT develops its marketing strategy, optimizing investments in advertising, event marketing, and targeted outreach efforts. Working closely with APT’s sales team, you will gain experience and build knowledge of how to market and sell products to business executives at some of the world’s most successful companies.

URS Corporation Intern Architect: a summer intern position for students currently enrolled in a college level Architectural program second or third year. Producing drawings using computer aided drafting software (CAD) and preparing graphical drawing and rendering displays for presentations,2,

SAIC Internship Program – For this program, you can participate as an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral candidate. Gain valuable experience while working on a variety of initiatives, from engineering, scientific, and technical programs to commercial projects around the world.

Intern positions are paid and provide the opportunity to work on important customer or internal projects. Internship and co-op opportunities are available year-round, with the majority taking place during the summer months. Internships are offered in several locations across our company

Rockwell Collins, Control Technologies Inc (RCCT) - Specialized engineering position to develop mathematical models and computer simulations of dynamic systems, design autopilots, guidance and navigation systems, and electronic engine controls through application of multivariable control and estimation theory.
